Planned Itinerary

Day 1:Today is for the pre-trip meeting only. Our meeting will take place in person at 6:30pm in Canmore, AB. Location TBD. We will make sure everyone has everything they need, introduce the group, laugh lots, and distribute the group gear.
-
Day 2:We'll wake up full of energy and carpool to the trailhead. Here your guide will review how to use your avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe and run the group through some fun exercises. After bundling up against the elements we will set out on our snowshoes for the hut. Once there we will grab bunks (6 people on one level) for us to sleep on and enjoy heat radiating from the wood burning stove. A three course meal will be prepared as we relax into the evening.
-
Day 3:After a delicious breakfast we'll gather our stuff, perfect our packing, and head out. Along the way we'll learn some navigation tips and tricks and discuss the various conditions for our route out. Who knows maybe we'll stop for a drink in Lake Louise on the way home?!?
Level of Difficulty
This trip is designed for those with prior snowshoeing experience and a strong fitness level. You will need to be comfortable entering into avalanche terrain and snowshoeing up to 6hrs with a 25 lbs (11.5 kg) pack.
